I have willingly covered countless shifts at Starbucks when people have asked, I’ve even stepped up and volunteered…..I need one shift covered in order to not completely destroy my back for the rest of my life and everyone I’ve helped in the past pretends they’re too busy. I’m faced with another challenge. Today, after throwing out my back, I went to the doctor. I was prescribed anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, and pain killers. The doctor however noticed in my file a note that read, “History of drug abuse—opiates”. She proceeded to lecture me on the importance of not abusing my pain killers, Vicodin, and finally decided to trust me....
